Hills Street Sports Medicine Centre has developed a 12 week physical activity program to encourage, engage and educate employees to become more active and participate in healthier behaviours. Past programs have led to a weight loss, a decrease in blood pressure, lower hip to waist ratios and an increase in physical activity.

Run by qualified Exercise Physiologists, a full assessment is conducted including wellness surveys for vitality, cardiovascular testing and physical strength testing for pre and post program comparison. Participants then complete 2 sessions a week for 12 weeks consisting of cardiovascular exercise, resistance and flexibility training to enhance their wellbeing.

Corporate Health and Wellness programs have been, in recent times, increasing in popularity as employers have identified the cost of absenteeism. Recent research has identified the cost of absenteeism to the Australian economy is $7 billion each year. According to the 2008 National Health Survey, chronic disease represents more than 80 per cent of the burden of disease and injury in Australia. A strategy to reduce these costs may be to improve the lifestyles of individuals. This is acheieved through preventative programs including those aimed at improving vitality, which encompasses energy, motivation and resilience.
